DILI, 20 July 2025 (TATOLI) – Mozambique’s Men’s Volleyball Team achieved a victory in their first match of the CPLP Games after a convincing win over Angola with a score of 2-0 (21-9 and 21-4) at the Beach Volleyball Court in Lecidere, Dili, on Sunday, July 20, 2025.
The match kicked off at 9:18 a.m. local time, featuring Mozambique’s team of Arnoldo Nhantumbo (jersey number 1) and Maurício José (jersey number 2), and Angola’s duo of Ruben Campos (jersey number 2) and Teixeira Vas (jersey number 1).
Mozambique showcased their dominance from start to finish, taking control in both sets and giving Angola no chance to mount a comeback in the straight-sets victory.
After the match, Mozambique’s captain Arnoldo Nhantumbo expressed his joy and satisfaction at winning their first match of the competition.
“We are excited after winning this game, which shows that our hard work is paying off. Tomorrow, we will continue to deliver a strong performance in the upcoming matches. Our goal is to win this tournament,” Nhantumbo told TATOLI after the match.
Meanwhile, Angola’s captain Ruben Campos remained positive despite the loss, expressing optimism ahead of their next match against Timor-Leste on Monday, July 21, 2025.
“We are delighted to compete in this tournament. That’s the nature of the game: one team wins, and the other accepts defeat,” said Campos.
