DILI, 22 July 2025 (TATOLI) – In their second match of the 12th CPLP Games, Portugal and Angola battled to a 0–0 draw at Dili Municipal Stadium, leaving both teams with four points in the group standings.

In the first half, the match was evenly contested, with both sides pushing forward in search of goals. Angola, however, showed greater attacking intent and dominated possession, especially during key offensive phases.

In the second half, Angola intensified their attacking efforts and created several promising opportunities, but were unable to put the ball at the back of the net.

Portugal, on the other hand, delivered a disciplined defensive performance. Their backline, particularly the central defenders and goalkeeper, stood firm under pressure to deny Angola any clear scoring chances.

Speaking after the match, Portuguese player Paulo António praised Angola’s strength, saying: “Angola was a very strong opponent—one that really challenged us. We stayed united and defended well until the final whistle to earn the draw.”

He said that his team remains optimistic about their next matches: “We’re going to win. We’ll stay confident until the end.”

Both teams will play their third matches on Thursday. Angola will face host nation Timor-Leste at 7:00 p.m., followed by Portugal’s match against Cape Verde at 9:00 p.m.

It’s worth remembering that in their opening matches, Portugal defeated Timor-Leste 1–0, while Angola secured a 2–0 victory over Cape Verde.
