Tennis: Portugal Tops Mixed Doubles and Singles Categories at CPLP Games

DILI, 24 July 2025 (TATOLI) – Portugal dominated the tennis finals at the 12th edition of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) Games, securing first place in mixed doubles as well as both men’s and women’s singles events.

In the mixed doubles final, Portugal’s Beatriz Angélico and Lourenço Correia clinched the gold medal. Mozambique’s Letícia Zandamela and Amin Rosa took silver, while Timor-Leste’s duo Frans da Silva and Graciabeth Valosa earned bronze.

Another Portuguese pair, Sofia Ferreira and António Rodrigues, also secured bronze in the same category.

In men’s singles, Portugal’s António Rodrigues emerged victorious, winning the gold medal. Mozambique’s Amin Rosa placed second, and Timor-Leste’s Frans da Silva came in third, taking bronze.

Beatriz Angélico added to Portugal’s medal count by winning gold in the women’s singles after a standout performance. Mozambique’s Letícia Zandamela claimed silver, while third place was shared by Portugal’s Sofia Ferreira and Angola’s Filomena Gonçalves, who both received bronze medals.

Following the competition, Angélico expressed pride in her achievement, calling it a milestone in her career. “I have high hopes and want to keep playing like this,” she said.

“This isn’t my first tournament abroad, but it’s the first time I’ve participated in an event with so many sports and so far from home. It’s been a special experience,” she added.
