DILI, 30 July 2025 (TATOLI) – President of the Republic, Jose Ramos Horta embarked on a private working visit to the Republic of Indonesia from 30 to 31 July 2025, focusing on academic diplomacy, peacebuilding, and reinforcing the enduring partnership between Timor-Leste and Indonesia.
The highlight of President Ramos-Horta’s short visit is his keynote address at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in Yogyakarta, where he will deliver a speech titled “Community Service as a Foundation for Global Leadership,” inspiring students and academics to translate grassroots initiatives into scalable solutions for peace and sustainable development.
The President will also engage with Indonesia’s academic and cultural communities, including a visit to UGM’s Art Festival, underscoring the power of arts in fostering cross-cultural understanding.
In Jakarta, President Ramos-Horta will hold strategic dialogues with Indonesian leadership and deliver a public lecture at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), reinforcing Timor-Leste’s commitment to regional stability and ASEAN unity.
This visit underscores Timor-Leste’s dedication to expanding bilateral cooperation with Indonesia, positioning UGM as a hub for strategic dialogue, and advancing shared aspirations for a peaceful and prosperous region.
