TIANJIN, 31 August 2025 (TATOLI) – More than 100 foreign journalists from Asia-Pacific and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member countries visited Tianjin Port.
The delegation toured one of the world’s top 10 advanced ports, where fully automated terminals, AI-operated cranes, and unmanned vehicles are transforming operations.
During the tour, the reporters were impressed not only by the port’s technology but also by its commitment to green practices, including shore power for vessels and emission-reduction systems.
Located on the Bohai Sea, Tianjin Port is one of the world’s busiest and most advanced maritime gateways, connecting with over 500 ports in 180 countries, and serves as a key hub of the Belt and Road Initiative.
The port serves as a model for developing countries, especially in the Global South, seeking to boost trade and sustainable growth.
The port handles more than 700 million tons of cargo each year, including over 20 million containers, ranking it among the global top 10.
As a driver of northern China’s economy, the port supports industries from manufacturing to logistics and facilitates trade for provinces such as Hebei, Shanxi, and Inner Mongolia.
Officials say its blend of scale, technology, and sustainability makes it a model for future global shipping.
