DILI, 26 September 2025 (TATOLI) – The 2025 Dili International Marathon under the patronage of President and Nobel Peace Laurate, His Excellency Jose Ramos-Horta, in collaboration with the IX Constitutional Government, the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, and the Athletics Federation of Timor-Leste, announces Timor Telecom Gold Level Sponsorship
The sponsorship was formalized today through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace, between the Chief of Staff of the Presidency of the Republic of Timor-Leste, Jesuína Maria Ferreira Gomes, and the Acting CEO of Timor Telecom, Carina Amaro.
The comprehensive sponsorship package from Timor Telcom, an East Timorese telecommunications company, is valued at $40,000, comprising $22,000 in cash and $18,000 in-kind. This sponsorship will provide essential communications support and enhance event visibility. A key component of the in-kind support is an SMS broadcast service to inform residents about the event and necessary road closures, ensuring community-wide awareness.
The Chief of Staff, Mrs. Jesuína Gomes stated, “The 2025 Dili International Marathon is an auspicious occasion for Timor-Leste. This year, we carry forward an important message with our race theme: ‘The Run for Palestine’. We commend Timor Telecom for their support and ongoing commitment to this event.”
The Acting CEO of Timor Telecom, Mrs. Carina Amaro, stated: “As Timor-Leste’s pioneer operator, Timor Telecom is honored to once again support the Dili International Marathon. Our mission has always been to connect people and empower the nation — not only through technology, but also through our contribution to sport, culture and social causes. We are proud to stand beside this event, which represents one of the most significant moments in Timor’s social and sporting life. We also take this occasion to congratulate H.E. Dr. José Ramos-Horta, Nobel Peace Laureate and Patron of this year’s Marathon.”
The 2025 Dili International Marathon will bring together local and international athletes. Registration closes on 8 October 2025. For more information, including race categories and routes, visit the official website at www.dilimarathon.tl or follow the event’s official social media channels.
