DILI, 07 October 2025 (TATOLI) — National Bank of Commerce of Timor-Leste (BNCTL) will launch a new digital platform on 10 October, allowing customers to purchase electricity credit online and through mobile banking.
The announcement was made in a press release, in which the bank stated that the initiative marks another step in advancing the digital transformation of Timor-Leste’s banking sector.
The new feature enables customers to buy electricity credit anytime and anywhere, eliminating the need to queue at Electricidade de Timor-Leste offices or physical sales centers, which are still common across the country.
“We encourage all customers to register for Internet and Mobile Banking services at the nearest BNCTL branches, agencies, or units to make life easier,” said BNCTL’s CEO Marcelo da Cruz Carvalho.
He explained that the measure aims to simplify and modernize banking services, making the process of purchasing electricity credit faster, safer, simpler, and more convenient.
The BNCTL Internet and Mobile Banking app also offers a range of additional features, including payment of customs fees, bank transfers, balance checks, account statements, and other complementary services.
