DILI, 29 October 2025 (TATOLI) – Ten enthusiastic journalists from TATOLI News Agency participated in a two-day training on storytelling and mobile journalism (MoJo) hosted by ABC International Development (ABC ID) from 28 to 29 October 2025.

The group made up of  four women and six men, including reporters, photographers, and videographers.

The training aimed to strengthen participants’ storytelling skills and enhance their ability to use smartphones for gathering, editing, and distributing news independently.

The Chairman of TATOLI’s Board of Directors, Noémio Mateus Soares Falcão, expressed his appreciation for the journalists’ enthusiasm and commitment to learning new skills in mobile journalism storytelling.

Falcão also thanked ABC ID for its continued partnership in developing human resources in Timor-Leste’s media sector.

“Today, media competition is very intense. Professionals must adapt to technological advances and improve their creativity in producing news. Training like this helps strengthen quality and innovation in news production,” Noémio said during his opening remarks at the Palm Business Center on Tuesday.

He encouraged journalists to make the most of the training by gaining new journalistic skills that would help them contribute to the country’s media development.

The sessions were led by ABC ID trainers Julie Hornsey and Caroline Winter, with facilitator Fernanda Maria.

Winter expressed her excitement about collaborating with TATOLI journalists to enhance their visual storytelling skills.

She said her team was delighted to work with the journalists and hoped the training would help them develop new skills to strengthen their institutions’ capacity to produce quality news content for the Timorese public.
