DILI, 05 December 2025 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste will take part in the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF), scheduled for 28–30 January in Cebu, the Philippines, the Director-General of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment (MTA), António da Silva, has announced.
The event will bring together tourism ministers from ASEAN member states, national tourism organisations, and key industry stakeholders.
The Philippines’ role as host underscores its status as a top regional destination, highlighting its culture, attractions, and hospitality to international audiences.
António da Silva said Timor-Leste aims to maintain an active presence at tourism exhibitions to strengthen business-to-business engagement between local and international companies.
He said that the National Parliament approved more than US$9 million for the MTA under the 2026 State Budget, with US$200,000 allocated specifically for exhibitions, marketing initiatives, and other tourism promotion activities.
Silva added that the ministry is also working to support the private sector through participation in the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Expo, of which Timor-Leste is a member, to help connect national businesses with international partners.
