DILI, 09 december 2025 (TATOLI) – The National Parliament on Thursday unanimously approved a visa-waiver agreement for holders of Angolan diplomatic and service passports during an Ordinary Plenary Session.
According to a government source, the agreement aims to deepen bilateral relations and facilitate official travel by granting visa-free entry for up to 90 days to Angolan diplomatic and service passport holders.
In the same session, lawmakers also approved the ratification of amendments to the Statutes of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP). The changes were endorsed by all Member States during the CPLP Council of Ministers meeting in Luanda and include the creation of a fourth pillar focused on economic and business cooperation. Angola submitted the proposal, which was later adopted at the Summit of Heads of State and Government on 17 July 2021, when the country assumed the rotating presidency of the organisation.
“This new pillar adds to the existing three areas of action: political-diplomatic coordination, cooperation, and the promotion of the Portuguese language and culture,” the source noted.
The same source added that the CPLP Statutes outline the rules governing relations among Member States, as well as the organisation’s objectives, principles, structure, and operational framework.
The plenary session was chaired by the President of Parliament, Maria Fernanda Lay, and attended by members of the Parliamentary Board and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito Freitas.
