DILI, 12 december 2025 (TATOLI) – Twelve Timorese doctors will undergo specialist medical training in Fiji under a scholarship program funded by the Ministry of Health.
The announcement was made by the Director-General for Cooperative Services at the Ministry of Health, Narciso Fernandes.
He said 12 doctors were selected from a pool of 46 applicants and confirmed that the group is scheduled to depart for Fiji in February 2026.
“The scholarship recipients will specialize in fields such as anaesthesia, general surgery, intensive care, internal emergency, obstetrics and gynaecology, dermatology, oral surgery, paediatrics, ophthalmology and psychiatry,” Narciso Fernandes said in Caicoli, Dili.
He recalled that the Ministry of Health had sent 30 Timorese doctors to Cuba last month to pursue specialization in nephrology, neurosurgery, cranial surgery, orthopaedics, vascular surgery and internal medicine.
