DILI, 08 january 2026 (TATOLI) — The Minister of Public Works, Samuel Marçal, on Wednesday presented to the Council of Ministers a status report detailing the main results achieved in the country’s infrastructure development throughout 2025.
According to the presentation, 45 out of 260 planned rural road projects have been completed, while the remaining 215 projects are scheduled for implementation in 2026.
In the category of urban, national, and municipal roads, the Ministry completed 27 projects in 2025, with 160 additional projects planned for 2026.
Progress was also reported in bridge construction. Of the 17 planned bridge projects, one was completed in 2025, and 12 are scheduled for completion in 2026.
“In the water and sanitation sector, one project has been completed and twelve are expected to be completed in 2026,” Government said in a statement.
Meanwhile, in the electricity sector, the Ministry completed 15 projects in 2025, with 49 additional projects planned for implementation next year.
The report presentation highlighted the completion of 39 emergency projects during 2025. A further 228 emergency projects are scheduled for completion in 2026.
Lastly, in the area of public buildings and gardens, five projects were implemented in 2025, with 21 more planned for implementation throughout 2026.
The presentation reflects the government’s continued focus on expanding and improving national infrastructure, with the majority of planned projects set to advance in the coming year.
