DILI, 30 december 2025 (TATOLI) – A total of 588 teachers were sworn in as permanent educators in General Secondary and Technical-Vocational Education after successfully passing recruitment examinations administered by the Ministry of Education and the Civil Service Commission.

The teachers were selected to fill vacancies announced by the Ministry of Education in March this year.
Secretary of State for General Secondary and Technical-Vocational Education Domingos Lemos said the ministry initially selected 624 candidates, but 36 later withdrew from the process.
Civil Service Commission President Agostinho de Deus said the swearing-in ceremony is part of the government’s effort to revitalize human resources in the education sector.
He explained that the oath-taking process represents a formal public commitment by each appointee to integrate into the teaching profession.
He said the newly appointed teachers commit to carrying out their duties and responsibilities while exercising the rights associated with the teaching career.
Agostinho added that all sworn-in teachers will be placed in Grade C of the civil service career structure.
Meanwhile, the National Director of Human Resources at the Ministry of Education, João Amaral, said the teachers will be deployed across all municipalities.
Of the 588 teachers, 26 will be assigned to Aileu, 21 to Ainaro, 10 to Ataúro, 79 to Baucau, 41 to Bobonaro, 36 to Covalima, 40 to Dili, 88 to Ermera, 47 to Lautém, 23 to Liquiçá, 39 to Manatuto, 35 to Manufahi, 51 to Viqueque, and 52 to the Special Administrative Region of Oé-Cusse.
