DILI, 14 january 2026 (TATOLI) – The international floating library Doulos Hope is scheduled to arrive in Dili, Timor-Leste, on january 15, 2026, marking its first-ever visit to the country.
Following its arrival, the vessel will host an International Book Fair for the Timorese readers from january 16 to 28, 2026, at the Dili Port.
The Doulos Hope is a floating library and bookstore run by the Christian charity GBA Ships.
It travels to ports around the world, mainly in Asia, bringing books and learning opportunities to local communities.
The ship offers a wide range of educational and Christian books for all ages and aims to share knowledge, support, and hope. Originally a cruise ship, it was converted in 2023 and is staffed by an international team of volunteers.
Doulos Hope promote literacy, education, and cross-cultural exchange by bringing quality books to local people.
The floating book fairs will welcome visitors each day during its stays in Dili.
The fair will welcome visitors from tuesday to saturday between 10:00 and 17:30 local time. Meanwhile, on sundays, it will be open from 13:00 to 19:00. Mondays are reserved for maintenance, and the ship will not be open to the public.
On the opening day, january 16, the exhibition will operate from 13:00 to 17:30 local time.
At the book fairs, visitors can explore a collection of over 5,000 books, including children’s literature, Christian books, and popular bestsellers.
The vessel is set to depart Dili on january 29, 2026, with its next stop at Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, from february 5 to march 4, 2026, followed by Honiara, Solomon Islands, from march 9 to 30, 2026, before continuing on to Suva, Fiji, from april 6 to 27, 2026.
