DILI, 30 April 2026 (TATOLI) — The Council of Ministers has today approved the allocation of approximately US$10.25 million for the construction of the Laueli irrigation project in Ermera municipality.
The decision was made during a meeting held at the Government Palace in Dili, following a proposal submitted by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Forests, Marcos da Cruz.
The funding will support the construction contract for the irrigation project in the municipality.
The move reflects the government’s commitment to advancing the development of the productive sector in rural areas, which will help reduce dependence on food imports.
It will improve access to water for local farmers, allowing them to diversify crop production, strengthen food security, and increase household incomes.
