DILI, 02 May 2026 (TATOLI) – The Minister of Education, Dulce de Jesus Soares, met on Monday with Cambodia’s Minister of Telecommunications, Chea Vandeth, to discuss the potential expansion of a digital platform for use within Timor-Leste’s Ministry of Education, during a meeting in Vila Verde, Dili.

The discussion centered on the possible adoption of Cambodia’s “Verify” digital platform to enhance the security, protection, and verification of academic document, including diplomas and other educational certificates.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Minister Soares said the initiative aims to enhance the security and reliability of educational records and reduce the need for graduates to legalize their diplomas abroad.

“This platform provides an opportunity for students, once implemented, to avoid the process of re-legalizing their diplomas in other countries, as all documents will be properly secured and verified,” she said.

The minister added that cooperation with Cambodia’s Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications would represent a significant step forward in improving education-related public services and addressing practical needs faced by students.

Cambodian Telecommunications Minister Chea Vandeth said the visit was intended to further explore the expansion of the Verify platform in the education sector, as part of broader digital governance cooperation.

The Cambodian delegation included Secretary of State at the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications Hak Sok Heng, Secretary-General of the Digital Government Committee Chea Sereyvath, Director-General of the ministry Sam Setherey, and Cambodia’s Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Chun Sovannarith.
