DILI, 08 september 2021 (TATOLI)-The Chinese Embassy in Timor Leste donated 240,000 masks and other anti-pandemic materials to the Ministry of Health Timor Leste to help it deal with its growing coronavirus crisis.
The materials including 240,000 masks, 100,000 pairs of medical gloves, 15,000 pieces of protective clothing, and 15,000 pairs of shoe covers.
Chinese Ambassador to Timor Leste, Xiao Jianguo, said that China has always been concerned about and supported Timor-Leste’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since the outbreak of covid-19 in Timor-Leste, China was the first to extend support and deliver medical supplies to the country.
The coronavirus outbreak began in Timor-Leste late last year China urgently provided a batch of anti-epidemic and disaster relief materials such as testing reagents, protective clothing, forehead thermometers, herb soaps, and blankets to Timor Leste.
In June, China provided 100,000 doses of Sinovac vaccines. At present, the Delta virus has aggravated the epidemic situation and Timor Leste is facing new challenges.
Today, China donated a batch of anti-epidemic materials including masks, medical gloves, protective clothing, and shoe covers to Timor- Leste.
“This is the largest single donation of PPEs in quantity provided by China,” Ambassador Jianguo said.
China and Timor-Leste are friendly countries. Based on the concept of a global community of health for all, China will continue to assist with its ability to help Timor-Leste to overcome the pandemic.
At the same Place, the Minister of Health Maria Odete Freitas Belo said that the Delta variant is potentially putting Timor Leste back to where it started in fighting the epidemic and posing a threat to Timor-Leste and its people.
“Now the Protective Equipment is needed in Timor-Leste,” Belo said.
The Ministry of Health thanks China for always standing with Timor Leste and look forward to cooperating more with China in the field of Health.
