DILI, 11 september 2021 (TATOLI) – The Government of Timor-Leste through the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MoFAC), Adaljiza Albertina Xavier dos Reis Magno, has offered her condolences to the Portuguese on the death of the country’s former President Jorge Sampaio
“President Sampaio is a very special person to Timor-Leste because during his leadership Timor-Leste held a referendum and continued with the restoration of independence, therefore Timor-Leste offered its deepest condolences to his family and also to all Portuguese people,” Minister Adaljiza told TATOLI Agency via WhatsApp message on Friday.
Jorge Fernando Branco de Sampaio was born in Lisbon, Portugal, on September 11, 1939. Sampaio was trusted by the people of Portugal as the President of the Republic from March 09, 1966, to March 09, 2006. Sampaio died on Friday at the Hospital de Santa Cruz, Lisbon, Portugal.
