DILI, 24 september 2021 (TATOLI) – The Government of Timor-Leste, on friday, through the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers, decreed a three-day of national mourning, following the death of the Timorese National Hero, Jose Antonio da Costa ‘Ma’Huno Bulerek Karathayano’.
The Government at the meeting of the Council of Ministers decreed the three days of National Mourning, from september 25, 2021, 08:00 am to september 28, 2021, 07:59 am.
Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães said that: “The national mourning implies that the national flag must be hoisted at half-mast in all public buildings across the country, including Timor-Leste’s embassies overseas.”
Ma’Huno was one of the FALINTIL Commander, the former Secretary of the FRETILIN Commission Directive, and the current Vice-President of the political party, the National Congress for Timorese Reconstruction (CNRT).
Ma’Huno died on september 24, at the Guido Valadares National Hospital (HNGV), in Dili.
