MTC- ANC issues the Registration Certificate to Ceslink, S.A.

DILI, 16 november 2021 ( TATOLI) – The Minister of Transport and Telecommunication ( MTT) through the National Communications Authority (ANC) has officially issued a certificate to Ceslink, S.A. to operate in the telecommunications sector in Timor – Leste.

Minister of Transport and Telecommunication, José Agostinho da Silva, said this policy was taken to provide an opportunity to the Ceslink S.A. to compete with Timor Telecom (TT), Telemor, and Telkomsel in the telecommunications sector:” I hope Ceslink can compete with the other telecommunications such as TT, Telemor, and Telkomsel to advance the Internet in Timor-Leste,”

Silva added that the presence of this new telecommunications will advance the internet network connectivity nationally and internationally to facilitate internet users and telephone users during the online and face-to-face working to contribute to the national development process in Timor – Leste.

The President of ANC, Joao Oliveira Freitas, informed that under the decreed law article 30/15/2012 authorizes the ANC to issue the registration certificates to the companies which engaged in telecommunications in Timor – Leste.

“Based on the decreed law article 30/15/2012 CNC today issued a Certificate of Registration to Ceslink, S.A. to begin its operation in the telecommunications sector in Timor – Leste,” said Freitas.

Freitas explained that Ceslink submitted a proposal in 2017 and since then the ANC has verified all submitted proposal documents.

ANC evaluates all the documents which are submitted by the Ceslink S.A. ANC appreciates that all the requirements to establish telecommunications regarding the equipment, legal regulations and others related to the requirements of telecommunications have been fulfilled by Ceslink, S.A.

“I am proud as it is the first time that they invest in the Telecommunication sector in Timor-Leste. I hope they can compete with TT, Telemor, Telkomsel, and with the presence of Ceslink, SA can cover all municipalities across the Timor – Leste which has low internet connectivity and offer job opportunities to Timorese,” said.

At the same place the Director of Ceslink, S.A., Sergio Gabriel dos Santos said that with the issuance of this Registration Certificate, Ceslink, S.A will soon install its satellite in Timor Timor – Leste and will operate soon.

“All equipment regarding satellites and other technical tools is completed and will soon be installed, we hope, Ceslink will compete with other telecommunications in Timor – Leste in early 2022,” said Santos.

Santos said Ceslink, S.A. will employ 300 East Timorese to work in the telecommunications sector to contribute to the national development of Timor – Leste.

Previously, Timor – Leste had 3 telecommunications companies such as Timor Telekom, Telemor, and Telkomcel, and today ANC has officially issued a new Registration Certificate to Ceslink, SA to become a part of the telecommunications system in Timor – Leste.

With the presence of Ceslink, SA, Timor – Leste already has 4 companies of telecommunications, we hope that these four telecommunications will compete for the internet speed, network and also to serve the clients with professional manner and can reduce the tariffs of internet, pulses which are still expensive in Timor – Leste.
