DILI, 29 april 2022 (TATOLI) – The 14th Dalai Lama, a Nobel Peace Price Winner, known as Gyalwa Rinpoche to the Tibetan people and the Tibet Region, Lhamo Thondup, congratulated José Ramos Horta, the newly elected President of Timor-Leste.
Dalai Lama’s message of congratulations was posted on the website of His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet, on thursday (28/04).
“It has been a privilege to have known you for so many years (…) beginning with your visits here to Dharamsala in the early 1990s,” Dalai Lama said in his letter to Horta.
Dalai Lama expressed his trust in Horta’s leadership to keep peace in Timor-Leste and ensure prosperity and progress for the Timorese people.
“A great responsibility now lies ahead of you once more and I trust that under your leadership the people of Timor-Leste will continue to enjoy peace, prosperity, and progress. I particularly hope that you will be able to improve the lives of the less fortunate members of society,” he said.
Dalai Lama extended his warmest congratulations to Horta by wishing him all the success ahead.
“With my prayers and good wishes for your success in meeting the challenges that lie ahead in fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the people of Timor-Leste.”
Timor-Leste’s Court of Appeal had officially, today, announced José Ramos Horta as the new President of the Republic of Timor-Leste.
The Inauguration Ceremony of the fifth President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta has been scheduled to take place on May 19, 2022.
Previously, Horta confirmed that some world leaders, including a few Noble Peace Prize Winners, would attend the Presidential Inauguration Ceremony.
