Australia provides US$14 million to support community resilience and economic recovery

DILI, 18 january 2023 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste Government has authorized the Minister of Finance, Rui Gomes, to sign the third phase of an agreement with the Australian Government to support community resilience and economic recovery in Timor-Leste during the global pandemic of the new Coronavirus outbreak. 

“The Council of Ministers has decided that the Minister of Finance will sign the third phase of the agreement worth US$14 million,” said the Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Fidélis Magalhães, at the Government Palace in Dili, today. 

Magalhães said that the money is given to support communities to improve their infrastructure through the National Village Development Program (PNDS), and subsidies from the “Bolsa da Mãe-Nova Geração” labor mobility.

The agreement foresees that the PNDS will be implemented in 452 villages, the subsidies “Bolsa da Mãe-Nova Geração” will be extended to other municipalities, and the Labour Mobility program will be implemented in Dili.
