DILI, 03 april 2023 (TATOLI) – The Minister of Education, Youth and Sport ( MoEYS) Armindo Maia, said this year MoEYS will construct other 250 school buildings in the national territory of Timor – Leste.
“We have put $15 million from the annual budget of 2023 and budget loans $15 million from World Bank so the total budget is 30 million to build another 250 school buildings with over 700 classrooms in 2023,” the Education Minister Armindo Maia told TATOLI at the Embassy of Japan Pantai Kelapa, Dili.
He explained the eighth Government of the constitution prioritized the Education sector saying education is an important pillar to develop Timor – Leste in the future.
“Investing in education is investing in the future of the nation, therefore we have to construct the school building to secure the students and also ensure the quality of education in Timor – Leste,” he said.
Previously in 2022 MoEYS built 228 school building with 700 classrooms and inaugurated 94 school building in january the others is still an ongoing process, therefore the total number of school building that has completed construction under the eighth government constitution is over 450 schools building with approximately 1500 classrooms in the national territory of Timor – Leste.
