Village Head Elections in 10 villages scheduled for april

DILI, 04 march 2024 (TATOLI) – Director General of the Technical Secretariat of Electoral Administration (STAE), Elviro Fernandes Moniz, revealed that the village Head Elections in 10 villages are scheduled for April.

“The elections for the Village Heads and Village Councils of 10 villages for the period 2023 to 2030 will be held next month,” Moniz told Tatoli.

He said the villages that will elect their village chiefs include the village of Builo in Viqueque, Lequitura and Bocolelo in Aileu, Sikone-Diloli and Laicore in Manatuto, as well as Ailoc, Bebonuc, Madohi, Manleuana and Mantelolão in Dili.

Moniz informed that STAE is currently cooperating with the Directorate-General for Administrative Decentralization of the Ministry of State Administration to identify and select the locations for setting up the polling stations.

The MP said that as soon as the government approves the date of the elections for these villages, STAE will recruit 252 polling station staff: “US$182,000 will be allocated for the realization of the elections”.
