DILI, 19 april 2024 (TATOLI) – Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) signed an agreement with cooperative groups in the municipality of Viqueque to provide training in agricultural conservation and cultivation techniques and, financial inclusion and management, specifically savings and loan programs.
The training is geared towards producing more and better managing the income from production and the family economy.
Virginia Pycroft, Director of ADRA said that this five-year agreement is the continuation of the previous signed in 2019.
She pointed out that SECoop has several training programs especially aimed at cooperatives, for example, basic training for new groups, specific training based on business activities, as well as accounting and financial management.
Pycroft said that her organization has been training cooperative members since 2021, adding ADRA-TL is committed to continuing to encourage members of cooperative groups in Viqueque and other municipalities to progress.
In 2021 ADRA had already supported farmers in Viqueque in transforming agricultural products into foodstuffs, such as cooking oil, ginger sweets, ginger powder, coconut, and ginger bars.
