DILI, 16 May 2025 (TATOLI) – A delegation from Southern Adventist University (SAU) in Tennessee, USA, has arrived in Timor-Leste for a two-week humanitarian mission aimed at delivering essential healthcare services to local communities.
Upon arrival, the group paid a courtesy visit to President José Ramos-Horta to present the details of their 13-day outreach program. The delegation includes university faculty members—among them Paulo Dias Grilo—and students led by team coordinator Heaven Robles. Their visit is facilitated by the local Seventh-day Adventist Mission.
During the meeting, the group reaffirmed presented SAU’s commitment to delivering healthcare services, with a specific focus on general medical and dental care, maternal health, and children’s well-being.”
The Head of State expressed his sincere appreciation for SAU’s initiative and commitment to supporting the health of the Timorese people, providing the team with an overview of the national health system to aid their efforts.
Horta commended the spirit of international volunteerism demonstrated by the SAU team, highlighting the value of such partnerships in complementing national efforts to improve public health.
The President wished the delegation success in their upcoming clinics, which are anticipated to bring tangible benefits to the recipient communities and further strengthen the bonds of friendship between Timor-Leste and the United States.
