DILI, 04 June 2025 (TATOLI) – China has launched a new “ASEAN Visa” aimed at deepening regional ties and streamlining travel for citizens of the 10 ASEAN member states and observer Timor-Leste, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian announced during a regular press briefing on Tuesday.

The visa will be available to eligible business travelers from the 11 countries, along with their spouses and children.

““ASEAN visa” offers 5-year multiple-entry visas to eligible applicants traveling to China for business purpose and their spouses and children, granting a maximum stay of 180 days,” Lin Jian told reporters.

The initiative builds on existing visa-free agreements between China and Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia, as well as the previously implemented “Lancang-Mekong Visa” for Mekong River countries.

Lin Jian said that the ASEAN Visa is designed to further enhance regional connectivity and facilitate the cross-border movement of people across the Southeast Asia region.

In recent years, China and ASEAN have made significant strides toward building a shared future, Lin Jian stressed.

He highlighted the growing frequency of exchanges between the people of China and Southeast Asian nations, underscoring a shared desire on both sides to further streamline travel and strengthen regional connectivity.
