DILI, 18 March 2026 (TATOLI) – The Meeting of Education Ministers of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) is scheduled for May 7 in Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste.
The Council of Ministers, on Wednesday approved the theme ““Education, democratic values, and civic participation: pathways to strengthening CPLP societies” for the meeting, following proposals by Education Minister Dulce de Jesus Soares.
The theme reflects Timor-Leste’s commitment to promoting democratic values and civic engagement through education, while fostering collaboration among CPLP countries.
The meeting will serve as a forum for consultation among Member States to strengthen cooperation in Education, align positions in international forums, and monitor the implementation of joint initiatives in the sector.
The meeting will strengthen multilateral cooperation in education and provide a forum to discuss issues related to the education systems of member states.
The first meeting of CPLP Education Ministers was held in Dili in 2015, where member states adopted the Strategic Plan for Multilateral Cooperation in Education and discussed issues related to their education systems.
