DILI, 19 June 2026 (TATOLI) – The Secretary of Social Communication (SECOMS), Expedito Loro Dias Ximenes, together with the TATOLI News Agency, participated in the Welcome Dinner organized as part of the National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA) Malaysia 2026 celebrations at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Penang Island, Malaysia, 19 June 2026.
The Welcome Dinner was hosted by the Governor of the State of Penang, Tun Ramli Ngah Talib, as a gesture of appreciation for the important role of the media in national development.
Timor-Leste’s participation in this event reinforces its strong relationship with the regional media and journalism community while promoting the exchange of experiences, professional cooperation, and the development of the communication and journalism sectors.
The Welcome Dinner brought together media representatives, journalists, government officials, and invited guests from various Southeast Asian countries to officially mark the beginning of the activities held as part of the HAWANA 2026 celebration, which takes place on 20 June 2026.
The Timor-Leste delegation expressed its appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the event and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening friendship and collaboration with partners in the fields of communication and information.
