DILI, 16 June 2026 (TATOLI) — Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Jesuina Gomes received Austrian Chargé d’Affaires ad interim Michael Wislocki for a courtesy meeting in Dili, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in education, capacity building and development initiatives.
Wislocki was accompanied by Austria’s Honorary Consul in Timor-Leste, Stefan Hlavac.
Wislocki highlighted Austria’s support for young Timorese women entrepreneurs through UNICEF and Pro EMA and other partners, as well as training opportunities for Timorese diplomats and police officers in Austria.
The Acting Ambassador also shared information on scholarship opportunities through ASEA-UNINET, Austrian research programmes, and Erasmus+, while noting Austria’s interest in expanding cooperation with Timorese educational institutions, including Universidade Católica Timorense (UCT).
The Vice Minister congratulated Austria on its election to the UN Security Council and expressed appreciation for Austria’s hospitality and support during the LIFE-AR Donor Dialogue and bilateral meetings held in Vienna in May 2026.
He encouraged further collaboration in health-related scholarship programmes and academic partnerships.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Timor-Leste and Austria.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of traditional gifts as a symbol of mutual respect and friendship between the two countries.
