DILI, 12 july 2021 (TATOLI)-The Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Ba Futuru, currently, has established a strategic plan and utilizes innovative planning to empower women.
“This program is helping to reduce domestic violence encountered by girls and women,” The Director of Ba Futuru, Juliana Marçal told to TATOLI Agency, at her office in Comoro, this monday.
She added, Ba Futuru is currently providing a women empowerment program to involve women in running business. This program is offered to young women under the age 18. This program is especially offered to the young women who have not finished their stay at senior high school and have dropped out from school.
“Women are encouraged to succeed in this program and it is helping women to access for money loans, helping financially to run their business. They are able to access some loans in Kaibauk and Moris Rasik credit associations to get some money. Ba Futuru is linking the women’s group to the market to ensure this product is available in the market,” she said.
This program is currently implemented in Ermera, Covalima, Dili and Ataúru municipalities. The women groups are helping in business various activities consisting of raising chicken, growing union, waving traditional clothes (Tais), sawing toys, producing dried fishes and among others.
Those activities always ensure permanent revenue for their group and help out family income. Ba Futuru also provides training for women in financial management to properly utilize money in their business.
Ms. Juliana revealed that the program of women economic empowerment is most important to help mitigate domestic violence faced by women. It is helping women to be able to make any decision contributing to a better life.
This program is funded by the MISERICORDIA organization based in Germany and has provided financial support for five years program implementation, with a budget plan for 5 years, which started last january 2018 and this program will end in december 2020.
Ba Futuru is always interconnecting four important program implementations such as; child protection, reduce violence and empower women, inspire youth and children training. In four programs are bound to each other to help reduce domestic violence against children and women.
Futuru is a non-government organization (NGO) which has legalized existence in Timor-Leste since 2005. Ba Future (NGO) comes with a vision to help children and women to achieve a better life.
This NGO is working in a gender program and considers men and women victims of gender based violence. However, based on Ba FUTURU NGO observation women and girls most suffer for the gender violence, helping mitigating domestic violence in not scale up in the country of Timor-Leste.
Ba Futuru conducts a women skill program to enhance women’s capacity to reduce gender domestic violence and mitigate the traumatic or stress that they are facing and help women to provide women like skill.
