DILI, 08 november 2022 (TATOLI) – The Democratic Party (DP) called on national leaders for unity to develop the nation to ensure a bright future for Timor-Leste.
“On behalf of the Democratic Party, we called on national leaders, including Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, Jose Ramos Horta, Mari Alkatiri, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo, Lere Anan Timur, Taur Matan Ruak, and others to build good communication among them to ensure a better future for Timor-Leste,” Democratic Party MP, Adriano do Nascimento made the appeal today during the discussion of the 2023 State General Budget at the House of Parliament.
He said there is no place for political leaders to insult each other and do nothing: “We need to build a better future for this country as this nation belongs to all of us.”
“Once again, PD calls on all national leaders to come together to build a better future for Timor-Leste,” he reiterated.
Nascimento said that Timor-Leste belongs to everyone, saying therefore political leaders are advised not to privatize the national development: “Political leaders should not privatize the construction of bridges, roads, airports, ports, and other national development projects.”
In addition, Nascimento also questioned the government’s ability to implement the $3.2 billion State Budget proposed for 2023: “Next year is a political year. Therefore, the government will only have five or six months to implement the budget, and I think it will impossible for the government to implement the budget in a short period of time.”
