DILI, 30 April 2026 (TATOLI) — Timor-Leste has issued exploration and evaluation licences for metallic minerals to Tivan Limited and its subsidiary Aitutu Pty Ltd, allowing the company to conduct exploration and evaluation activities in Vikeke and Baukau.
The ceremony for the issuance of the Exploration and Evaluation Licenses was held last week by the National Minerals Authority (ANM) in the presence of the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Francisco da Costa Monteiro.
Exploration and evaluation activities will be carried out in concession areas covering the administrative posts of Ossu and Viqueque Vila in Viqueque Municipality, as well as Vemasse and Venilale in Baucau Municipality.
These concession areas were previously awarded by the government to Beacon Minerals Limited (BML). However, following the implementation of its approved work programme and budget, BML decided to transfer its mineral rights to Tivan Limited in accordance with Timor-Leste’s Mining Code.
The transferred concession areas include six licence blocks:
- MEL2023-CA-ZB003
- MEL2023-CA-ZB004
- MEL2023-CA-ZB005
- MEL2023-CA-ZB006
- MEL2023-CA-ZB007
- MEL2023-CA-ZB008
“The Approved Work Program and Budget comprised of activities such as geological and geophysical mapping, laboratory analysis, drilling and local content commitment. These licenses valid for four (4) years, which is a continuation of the previous Licenses granted to BML,” ANM said in a statement.
The ceremony was attended by the Members of Government, Representatives of Veterans, President of Municipalities, Community Leaders, Institutions under the tutelage of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and Local and National Media.
