DILI, 22 May 2025 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste President, Jose Ramos Horta today received Sabri Boukadoum, Ambassador of Algeria, for a friendly visit.
They talked about the strong links between Timor-Leste and Algeria, noting that both countries share similar values and a history of fighting for their independence.
The Ambassador pointed out that both countries strongly believe in helping places become free from colonial rule (decolonization).
Ambassador Boukadoum also mentioned that it was good to see Timor-Leste taking a lead in this area, especially since an important UN meeting about decolonization (the C24) is happening in Dili right now.
He thanked the President, the government, and the brave and generous people of Timor-Leste. He wished the nation continued success and good fortune, and the meeting showed the good relationship and understanding between the two nations.
