DILI, january 11, 2022 (TATOLI)– Civil Society Auditoria and Financial Support (SASCA) built more than 200 private toilets in the Oecusse Ambeno (RAEROA).
SASCAS executive director, Edvin Duarte Soares Noronha said SASCA partnered with several local NGOs to build public and private toilets, which aim to eradicate the habit of open defecation free.
“SASCA is working side by side with several local NGOs and Civil Society groups in Oeccusee Ambeno and several municipalities to build private and public toilets across Timor-Leste,” SASCAS executive director, Edvin Duarte Soares Noronha told the Tatoli Agency at the Palace government, Tuesday.
In partnership with NGOs and the private sector, SASCA intends to provide budgets for local NGOs to build private and public toilets.
“Until today SASCA has built 17 private toilets in Hera Akanunu with a total budget of $8,500, another 30 private toilets in Watulari Viqueque worth $15,000, and 200 toilets in Oe-Cusse with a budget of $100,000,” he explained.
In addition, SASCA also partnered with the Timor-Leste Red Cross and the Bairro Pite Clinical Center to build toilets in public areas consisting of five toilets in Fleixa, Lecidere, and Atabae.
According to Noronha, this project targets the most vulnerable and people who do not have access to a toilet at home.
