DILI, 22 July 2020 (TATOLI)- The World Food Program committed to continuing the technical support of the Ministry of Education to improve the quality of their school meals.
“We have finished a revision of the manual for the Ministry of Education, and added an increase from 0.25 cents to 0.50 cents, for meals attached to the program,” the representative of WFP, the Country Director Dageng Liu told journalists at MEJD press conference.
According to Mr Liu, the technical data from MEJD, WFP, Ministry of State Administration and CARE International has been compiled, and the final sections of the manual are almost completed and will be implemented by the end of 2020.
The manual revision for the school meals program is set to improve the nutrient-rich food supplements and increase foods overall calories and protein for primary school children across 12 municipalities in TL.
He explained that since 2005-2011 the WFP and MEJD established cooperation in technical support of how to observe and implement the school meals program and the suggestions on how do improve it further.
“We continue to provide technical support to develop the school meals program. A program with good results for the children as they consume a proper and quality of meals during the learning process,” he said.
