DÍLI, September 21, 2020 (TATOLI) – The Diplomats of the Order of Malta for Timor-Leste and Oceania, David C. Scarf, said the applicant wanted to build a new clinic in Timor-Leste.
These statements were made following a meeting with the Consul General of Timor-Leste in the State of New South Wales, Luciano Romano da Conceição.
Mr. Conceição said As consul-general, he held a meeting attended by the Ambassador of the Order of Malta to Timor-Leste and Oceania, His Excellency, Mr. David C. Cachecol, and the Ambassador appointed to Timor-Leste, His Excellency Mr. Terry Tobin.
He added, they have discussed several topics during the meeting, among other issues, the possibility of building a new clinic in Timor-Leste.
“The proposal has the central objective of guaranteeing assistance to sick people,” Mr. Ramono told Tatoli via Facebook.
according to him, the new Ambassador, Terry Tobin would visit Timor-Leste to deliver the credentials letter to the President of Timor-Leste, Francisco Guterres Lu Olo also intruduce the project of where the new clinic will be built after the covid-19 is ended.
The primary mission of Order of Malta is to assist the humanitarian affairs in all conflict and post-conflict countries.
Timor-Leste established diplomatic relations with the Order of Malta shortly after its restoration of independence in 2002, with its ambassador delivering credential letters to the President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta, in 2010.
In 2011, the Order of Malta has supported Timor-Leste in the health sector, with emphasis on the construction of a new international clinic in Dili, located in the well-known Timor Plaza shopping centre.
