DILI, 30 november 2020 (TATOLI) – State Council (KE) and Council Superior Defense and Security (KSDS) has agreed with the request made by the Government to renew the level eight state of emergency for another 30 days.
Francisco Maria de Vasconcelos, who represents the president, revealed that the The EC and CSDS recommended that President Francisco Guterres Lu Olo, issue a request to parliament for the extension to the current state of emergency.
“The decision will be decided by the National Parliament,” Francisco Maria de Vanconcelos said after the meeting at the Presidential Palace, Bairru Pite Dili.
The measures implemented in the level eight period of State of Emergency would be significantly stricter about the entrance points into Timor-Leste.
There will be a specific regulation relating to the control and movement of people using the land borders and also controlling the people inside mandatory quarantine sites to prevent spreading of covid-19 and avoid from local transmission.
The eight period of state emergency issued by the President Lu Olo took place between of November 4 and 3 of December 2020 and underline that Timor-Leste state policy is based on the implementation of measures aimed at avoiding the risk of importing COVID-19, in particular in the application of restrictive measures to prevent and control the virus.
Mr Vasconcelos said the request will be sent to the Parliament National for the authorization.
