DÍLI, 4 november , 2020 (TATOLI) – The Government launched the “Basic Basket” shopping voucher which will be delivered to 285,660 beneficiaries across Cristo-Rei, Dom Aleixo, Nain Feto and Vera Cruz within Dili.
The Vice-Minister of MTCI, Domingos Lopes Antunes, said that the purpose of the project is to stimulate the economy in the short term, for production and trade, within the scope of the country’s Economic Recovery Plan.
“The objective is to mitigate the impact of covid-19 and ensure that all citizens have access to nutritious food and hygiene items,” said Domingos Antunes.
Antunes said ten supermarkets are apart of the distribution system, commencing next week, to deliver and verify the beneficiaries.
“The stores will receive between 400 and 500 beneficiaries per day. The MTCI will have the calendar, and the local authorities will list beneficiaries. Each person has the right to receive the voucher”, he said.
He also appealed to the entire population in Dili to bring their original documentation and a copy of their family record as well as the identity card to present to the teams responsible for this program.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Joaquim Amaral, asked supermarket owners to prepare the food items on the list.
