DILI, 18 december 2020 (TATOLI)– Australian Ambassador to Timor Leste, Peter Roberts, announced that The Australian Government would provide financial support to Timor-Leste to the value of AU$100 thousand in 2021.
He made this announcement after meetings with the Vice Prime Minister and the Minister of Social Solidarity and Inclusion, Armanda Berta dos Santos at her office.
Roberts said the support will be provided to the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion and will be used for the development of agriculture, education, social protection and the private sectors.
“I am delighted that today I was able to meet with the Vice Prime Minister and the Minister of Social Solidarity and Inclusion. We discussed the cooperation between the two countries and the support in the form of $100 thousand that will be given to Timor-Leste MSSI Ministry,” Peter Roberts told the journalists after the meeting.
He said Australia extends its support to Timor-Leste because both countries have a good level of cooperation as development partners and neighbouring countries. Thus the two countries must work together to improve their vision in prosperity.
The Vice Prime Minister, Armanda Berta dos Santos, thanked the Government of Australia for their support which will be provided to the Ministry of MSSI.
“We thank the Government of Australia for the support provided to the Government of Timor-Leste’s Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion. Today we meet to discuss scholarships that we have implemented in the past, and hope that this year we will continue to implement,” she said.
The scholarships will begin once the introduction of the program to the Council of Minister.
And the program will be implemented within 12 municipalities across the country.
