DILI, 4 january 2021 (TATOLI)-The government Ministry of Education announced that the kindergartens, primary and secondary schools will temporarily suspend face-to-face classes, school activities and the school enrollment for two weeks to prevent the covid-19 pandemic.
The suspension to the school activities to provide the opportunity for the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health to conduct the supervision to the entire schools.
“I appeal to all the private and public schools in the entire territory to suspend all the learning activities and school enrolment to wait for the new instruction from the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education,” Minister of Education, Armindo Maia said at the Press Conference at the Caicoli Dili.
According to Mr Maia, the Ministry will implement the online schools over the internet, television, radio and other form of communication to all students.
“We are yet to ensure the school internet in the program of the OJE 2021 although the budget has promulgated,” he said.
But he said, his Ministry will set the effort to cooperate with partners such as UNICEF to support the budget for the online school.
“This decision will take time, and the next decision will make after the two weeks,” he said.
