DILI, 08 january 2020 (TATOLI)— Government’s Council of Minister, discuss the plan on purchasing the AstraZenec drug for the vaccine to prevent the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste.
The Minister of Health, Odete Maria Freitas Belo, said the plan was presented during the meeting of the council and the government was agreed with the procurement for the vaccine.
“We have introduced the plan regarding the Vaccine and the distribution of the AstraZeneca, according to the plan drugs will be delvered to Timor-Leste on June, since we don’t have any industry in our country,” Minister of Health Odete Freitas Belo said.
She added that, despite the plan was discussed she has no clue on how much budget will the government allocates for the procurement of the drugs.
She said, the Ministry of Health will cooperate with the line of Ministries to launch the information about the advantage and the effect from the program.
“The vaccine will be applying first to the front-line staffs such as FALINTIL Defense Force, National Police of Timor-Leste (PNTL), including the journalists, “she said.
The AstraZeneca Vaccine was first develop from the University of Oxford England to prevent the contamination of COVID-19.
