DILI, 13 january 2021 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Education will sing the agreement with the Korean Embassy in Timor-Leste and the Korean International Corporation Agency (KOICA) on a project to develop children’s sports in Timor-Leste.
With regards to the agreement, the executive appoints the Minister of Education, Armindo Maia representing the Government to sign the Agreement.
“The Council of Minister has approved the contents of the memorandum of understanding to be signed between the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MEJD), the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the International Cooperation Agency of Korea (KOICA), on a project to develop children’s sports in Timor-Leste,” President for the Council of Minister, Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães said.
Speaking to the Journalists, Magalhães said the project aims to not only promote the participation of children in sports activities, but also to raise the population’s awareness of child development through the practice of sports.
He added that the project also intends to create a sports system in the country, either by strengthening the capacity of organizational management and youth sports coaches or by improving sports facilities.
The project is implemented with $6.5 million budget to increase the participation of the children and youth in the sports, particularly the football genre through the constructions of infrastructures.
