DILI, 19 january 2021 (TATOLI) – Health Authorities confirmed one person died in Timor-Leste from the latest outbreak of Dengue fever for this year.
The girl was confirmed dead after transferring from Maubisse, Ainaro Municipality,Hospital to the National Hospital of Guido Valadares Dili.
The Director of Health Service, Manufahi Municipality, Florencia Corteral Tilman explain the chronology of the fatality by saying that, the victim is a child with nine years old, imported from Maliana, Bobonaro Municipality. The child was brought to Manufahi hospital in a severe condition, and was having gums and blood vomiting.
Thus the health professional from the Manufahi has transferred the patient to the Maubisse hospital and was transferred to Dili National Hospita and was not able to save her life.
“Two weeks ago, we registered two children suffer from dengue and was rise to three, bring the total to five including one fatality. Currently the three dengue patients experiencing gums and blood vomiting, thus the health team has provided the treatment for the patients,” Director Florencio Cortereal Tilman told Tatoli via phone.
According to Tilman the cases were developed in the first week of January 2021.
He added that their office has sufficient Larvicides stock, currently, the health workers are continuing efforts of fumigating places affected by Dengue in Manufahi Municipality from September last year until now.
“We continue to conduct public awareness campaigns, encouraging residents to clean up around their homes to prevent mosquitos from breeding “ he said.
Following the data recorded of 2020 Manufahi health authority recorded 29 dengue cases no fatalities.
