Timor-Leste logs one new case of covid-19 with no local transmission

DILI, 27 january 2021 (TATOLI) – The Department of Health (DOH) of the Timor-Leste reported today new confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) case, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in to 18.

The Coordinator of COVID-19, from the Ministry of Health said, the patient is experienced the symptom of COVID-19 and is transferred to the Vera Cruz Isolation Center.

“The patient informed the doctor at the quarantine about his symptoms. The surveillance team therefore immediately carried out the test. After testing the results of the laboratory test indicate the patient is positive to covid-19”, Nilton da Silva said during the press conference in Caicoli, Dili.

He said in regards with the result the patient was transferred to isolation center in Vera Cruz, Dili.

Mr Silva also recalled that the infected person traveled from Indonesia cross the Batugadé border on january 20, together with other patients that currently isolated and some are stay in mandatory confinement in Novo Horizonte.

Silva added that, despite being infected, all patients in the Vera Cruz isolation center are in good health.

Timor-Leste has so far reported 68 cases of the new coronavirus, 50 of which have recovered.
