DÍLI, 1 february 2021 (TATOLI) – Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, Taur Matan Ruak and the South Korea’s Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Kim Joeng-Ho, discuss the possibility of partners in supplying the electricity through the installation of solar panels on the island of Ataúro.
“I spoke with the Prime Minister about electricity on the island of Ataúro, particularly the installation of solar panels, because the island is grappling with electricity problems that have lasted for many years. And thus we are discussing on how we can provide the support to tackle the problem,” South Korean Ambassador, Kim Joeng-Ho told the journalist after the meeting with the Prime Minister at the Palacio do Governo Dili.
At the same they have addressed the issue of rural development, were the results were very positive to the population in Ataúro.
As part of the meeting, Prime Minster also go over the South Korean development program in Timor-Leste and ask to be maintained and strengthen the cooperation ties between both countries by mean of providing the support to people who live in the countryside.
Mr Kim Joeng-Ho said, during the meeting, Prime Minter gives the priority to multiple areas: sport, employment, health and the prevention of natural disasters.
With regard to sport, the South Korean Government intends to continue promoting taekwondo, while in the employment sector the Timorese Government has asked its South Korean counterpart to continue sending workers to South Korea with a view to deepen their knowledge and create bonds of friendship between the populations of the two countries.
“For the Health sector, the South Korean Government will focus on the issue of student nutrition at all school levels,” he said.
