Timor-Leste reports three new imported covid-19 cases

DILI, 04 fevereiru 2021 (TATOLI)— Timor-Leste confirmed three new imported covid-19 cases on Thurday, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 27, said Ministry of Health (MS) statement.

The Coordinator of COVID-19, Josefina Clarinha João said, the three patients were Timorese citizens.

“The new cases were detected on 21-year-old female student, 22-year-old man student and 29-year-old man, returning from different places in Indonesia via land border on jan 20, along with 118 passengers” The Coordinator of Covid-19, Josefina Clarinha João said at the press conference

They were in mandatory quarantined in Novo Horizonte Hotel Dili, the samples of the two students were taken for lab test for the third time (on Sunday) and the result showed that the patients were positive for COVID-19.

“Last night the MoF team has transferred the patients to Vera Cruz Isolated Center,” Clarinha said.

 The 29-year-old patient was traveled from Salele Suai to Atambuat West Timur on 20 of january 2021, while on 22 he crossed the broder illegally to Timor-Leste thorough Suai.

The patient was detained by the Police on january 22 and he was then brought to the quarantined.

“His sample taken for lab test for the third time (on Sunday) and the result showed that the patients were positive for COVID-19, and the patient will be transferred to Vera Cruz” Ms Clarinha said.

Timor-Leste has so far registered a total of 80 cumulative cases of covid-19, with zero deaths and 53 recoveries.
