Timor-Leste registers 14 new imported coronavirus infections

DILI, 11 february 2021 (TATOLI)— Timor-Leste today recorded 14 new coronaviruses, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to date to 38, with 37 are isolated in Vera Cruz and one in Region of Administrative Oe-Cusse Ambeno (RAEOA).

Of the 14 new cases, 14 — including 2 foreign nationals and 12 are Timorese compose of seven students and one health individual.

According to Coordinator of COVID-19, Odete da Silva Viegas the patients compose of 20 to 54 years old.

“The 14 new patients were recent arrivals from abroad, Indonesia on january 20 2021, they arrived in Timor-Leste via Batugede land border with other 118 passengers,” she said.

Ms Viegas said 12 patients have been having self-quarantined at the hotels prepared by the government.

the patient’s swabs were taking on january 21, February 1 and February 9 and the tests results indicated the that the thirteen patients were positives to covid-19.

The 14 patients compose of one health individual working at the quarantine and another one arriving in Timor-Leste on january 23, 2021 with public transport from Kupang to Atambuat.

On january 24 he arrived in Timor-leste via Batuede land border and fulfill mandatory quarantine in Bobonaro Batugede.

Odete underlined that, the patient performed the first test on january 24 and the second test was on january 9 the results turn positive twice.

“The vigilant team transferred the patient to the Vera Cruz isolation center,” she said.

So far total of 36 community under the mandatory quarantine at Batugede including patient positive to covid-19 and other 35 were crossing the border illegaly.

“Ministry of Health has discharged another five persons isolated at the Vera Cruz Isolation center compose of three females and two males, one is foreign citizen,”She said.

Viegas said the discharged patients were tested negative on February 8 and 10 after being isolated.

Timor-Leste has so far registered a total of 100 cumulative cases of covid-19, with zero deaths and 66 recoveries.
