MoH team collects 1.356 samples for the mass testing of direct infectious diseases

DILI, 20 february 2021 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Health (MoH) has collected around 1.356 samples of population residing in Bobonaro, Covalima and Oé-Cusse for the mass testing of direct infectious diseases, Ministry of Health statement on Saturday.

The Coordinator for prevention and control of direct infectious diseases, Ministry of Health (MoH), Odete da Silva Viegas said, of the total sample, 994 have been sent to Dili National laboratoy, and the results show 718 were negative to coronavirus while 276 still waiting for the results.

“Mass tests have reached a 73% of the residents in covalima, 80% in Bobonaro and 38% in RAEOA”, Ms Viegas said.

Thus, she added that the Ministry of Health (MS) is initiating the mass testing to the entire populations residing in the three municipalities within this week.

“We expect to collect about 100 samples per day in the next ten days. We estimate that until February 25th we will collect all the samples”, Viegas said.

At the same Time, Ms Viegas announced that, the MoH currently discharges two more Timorese patients were under the under the treatment at Vera Cruz isolation center.

With the two more recoveries, bring the country’s recovery cases to 82, with the total infections 103 from the beginning of the outbreak and 21 active cases.

Following the data from the MoH, until february 20, 2021, patients had been tested is 20.694 of this number 20.549 were negative and 42 are still waiting for the results.

Meanwhile 258 are under the mandatory quarantine and seven are having the self-quarantine at home.
