DILI, 26 of march, 2021 (TATOLI) – Two Airnorth flights from Australia landed at Nicolau Lobato International Airport, Comoro, Dili, in the consecutive hours at 12:30 pm and the other at 1:55 pm.
The two flights were chartered by the Government of Timor-Leste to transport the property of the Central Bank of Timor-Leste (BCTL).
The National Police of Timor-Leste (PNTL) and representatives of the Central Bank of Timor-Leste (BCTL) received the parcels at the airport and ensured its well transported to the BCTL.
The Minister of Transport and Communications, José Agostinho da Silva, confirmed, he had received an application for the license approval of both Air north flights by the Civil Aviation Authority of Timor-Leste (AACTL). The request was delivered to the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
“Based on the request from the AACTL, the two planes would bring cargo from Australia. However, I cannot specify what property was the flights transported”, Mr Agostinho told Tatoli, via telephone.
Likewise, the BCTL Governor Abraão de Vasconcelos also declined to comment in detail about the issue.
“I think this issue is particularly sensitive for security reasons and we regret that the information has been made public when applying for a flight license,” he said.
According to Vasconcelos, BCTL followed the normal internal procedures from the institution, manage the issue of flights in a confidential manner.
